As we enter the last day of the Episcopal Fund on Friday, October 25, we want to thank all the parents who have already made a gift/pledge. Students and parents have the opportunity to participate in a Health, Safety, and Well-Being education event next week.
On Monday, October 28, parents are invited to hear Mike Domitrz from the Center for Respect present “Raising Respectful Kids” at 5:15 – 6:45 p.m. in the Deming Theatre located in the Munnerlyn Center. Mike Domitrz works closely with students and schools across the country to produce national initiatives resulting in revolutionary change in America’s approach to dating and respect. Mike has been quoted in major publications such as The Wall Street Journal and been a featured expert on Dateline NBC’s “My Kid Would Never Do That” series. On Tuesday, October 29, students will have grade level appropriate assemblies with Mike during the school day, where he will address 9 Daily Choices for Respect and 9 Daily Displays of Disrespect. Advisories will hold discussion on the subject matter and help students consider where they can make changes in how they interact with others.
Health, Safety, and Well-Being programs are intended to round out the emotional and spiritual growth of Episcopal students. ESJ is proud to be a school known for fostering young adults who thrive in areas of self development, even after graduation. The school is grateful that we have the resources to bring in the best professionals to aid us in developing our students this way. A cooperative spirit of enthusiastic participation in these events from parents and students helps better our community and strengthen our Episcopal family.

Join the College Counseling team on October 28 at 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for the College Knowledge: Financial Aid program.
The event will cover the different forms of financial aid, scholarship programs like Bright Futures, and more. Financial aid expert Alicia Keaton from UCF will be there to answer your financial aid questions.
The program will be held in Harden Hall located in the Haskell Center for Science and Student Life.
Join us for a Parent Book Study end of year social gathering on Thursday morning May 1 at Southern Grounds-San Marco, 1671 Atlantic Blvd, 32207. Come by whenever you want after drop-off 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. All are welcome, including those of you who may have read without coming to the groups or may be interested in participating next year. We hope you enjoyed reading Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic-And What We Can Do About It by Jennifer Breheny Wallace and found it helpful. We’ll be visiting and talking about books for next year. Hope you can stop by!

Join us on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Harden Hall located in the Haskell Center for Science and Student Life.
The programming will include a panel of individuals with experience going through the process as student, parents, and coaches.
All current 9-11th grade students! Interested in adventure and doing good for the world? Consider coming to the LA Mission Trip this summer! We will work with children in low income neighborhoods, serve meals to the urban homeless, and also experience the beauty that is LA, through hiking, biking and more! We are accepting 10 students.

Episcopal is aware of recent morning traffic implications from the traffic lights on Atlantic Boulevard. The school has been in touch with the City of Jacksonville and wanted to provide an update on the information we have at this point:
- Traffic lights are controlled by the City, not the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
- JSO and ESJ are not currently permitted to manually control the lights as they had before.
- The City has a third party company helping with a traffic study to help inform adjustments to timing of these lights.
- We do not have a confirmed timeline for completion of this study, however the school is following up persistently to ensure this is done and improvements are made as soon as possible.
We appreciate the community’s patience as we await updates and improvements from the City. Rest assured that the school is doing all it can to expedite a solution. In the meantime, we encourage drivers to allow extra time in the morning until this is resolved.
